From the big screen to the stage: the hit movie Mean Girls, starring Rachel McAdams and Lindsay Lohan, is now a Broadway musical.
Mean Girls: the Musical made its off-broadway debut performance at The National Theater in Washington D.C. on October 31st and will move to the August Wilson Theater on Broadway on April 8th, 2018. Cady Heron (Erika Henningsen) struggles to find her place in the world of high-school. She meets best friends Janis Ian (Barrett Wilbert Weed) and Damien Hubbard (Grey Henson) as they show her the ropes of how to survive the madness of high-school.
But “The Plastics” are the queen bees of the school: Regina George (Taylor Louderman) is trying to lose three pounds by eating cheese fries, Gretchen Wieners (Ashley Park) is only trying to make “fetch” happen and Karen Smith (Kate Rockwell) can shove a whole fist in her mouth. These dynamic characters are all a part of the new phenomenon of Mean Girls: the Musical. Tina Fey, the writer of the movie version, also wrote the script of the play and teamed with her husband Jeff Richmond, a broadway composer, for the songs and lyrics.
Mean Girls: the Musical is a must see musical this year and will continue to make you laugh and cry all in one show. So “get in loser, we are going to broadway.” Go get your tickets now before you miss out!
